soundmap is an initiative of the echo science club, which consists in creating an interactive map of the sounds of Poznań.

the map will feature labels containing characteristic sounds associated with specific places, objects, or phenomena.

this will create a sound portrait of the city, showing what Poznań sounds like in different locations and times of day.

how will it work? poznań will be divided into districts, each with its own scope of activities within the project. the task will be to collect characteristic sounds from specific areas, those that best reflect their atmosphere and specificity.

what do you need to do? use your phone to record a characteristic sound you come across somewhere "around town" – whether it's on your way home, going out to wrocławska street in the evening, or waiting at the politechnika stop.

each recording should be accompanied by a short description including: – location, i.e. coordinates (e.g. google maps pin), – date and time, – short description of the sound source (e.g. tram at a terminus, fountain, church bells, maintenance work, pedestrian traffic etc.). – a photo of what is making the sound.

the recordings are made in the natural rhythm of the city, during everyday passages, walks or passing by specific places.
